Monster Island bestiary preview?

posted Feb 17, 2013 16:26:45 by chryckan
Was just wondering if we're going to get some sort of preview of just what creatures will be included in the book? Sort of like a simple list preferably.

Not quite yet. I still don't know if we can fit all of them into the book yet.

Did you decide to include any from your old competition?

Write really really small and give out magnifying glasses with each book as a cool gimmick?

Shrinking rays. That'll do the job.

Ah sorry Dan, no I didn't. Is there one in particular you liked? I might be able to shoehorn one in before zero hour...

Ah, no. I quite like (some of) the dangerous plants, but all in all I was just curious 'bout what we can expect.

Very much looking forward to the book!

Don't worry, there's a few dangerous plants included. Can't have S&S without killer foliage... ;)

Oh, btw. I rewrote my old Dream Being entry from then, as a spirit - the classical "Mare" of scandinavian/german philosophy. Going to introduce it in a couple of sessions - will be fun to see how the characters act against something that invades their dreams and builds a world of dream and nightmare in its lair.

That sounds awesome. Can't wait to get the book! Been reading up on Griffin Island, and as you say, the amount of content is extreme.

Oh, I just realised. I would love stats on a Hydra at some point :) not because I need to use it, but because it seems to be lacking given the classical ancient style of the other monster in the book (pagewise it makes sense ofc)

But if nothing else, I'll do it myself at some point.

There are stats for a hydra, but my own take on the one presented in Jason and the Argonauts.

However, there will be a lack of other Ancient Greek monsters since I'm saving those for the Mythic Greece book. There's a specific reason for hydras in the MI setting, but its a bit of an 'in' joke.

Too much good stuff coming out. Wait, forget I said that. Seriously, though, looking forward to everything.
Don't be alarmed. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Fair play, some of those names look very interesting!
