Errata

posted Feb 24, 2013 16:52:37 by lawrence.whitaker
Pete and I have incorporated - hopefully - all the errata into our core RQ6 files. We've been back through all the posts here and checked through everything so we believe we caught the lot. What I'd like to do is ask those of you out there who've reported mistakes and inconsistencies to us to drop Pete and I an email at designmechanism at gmail dot com with errata you've already reported and anything else you may have found. This will help us get a final list in one place and double check that we have captured everything.

Here's what then happens.

We will update the RQ6 PDF available through Drivethru and our own store. We will arrange for all customers to receive the updated file free of charge. I'll post more news on how this will work later.

We can now start to seriously think about the hardback Kickstarter, and will be doing so this week. I should have more news on it in early March.

In terms of the errata work we've done, most is correcting a few errors: we've taken the opportunity to add some clarifications here and there and change the way a few things are worded. I'll look to produce an errata PDF document summarising the changes made.

Many thanks for your help.

Just to clarify. You want anyone who reported an error on this forum to mail you or Pete pointing out the error again, even if we already know you are aware of the error?

Exactly.

There are bits and pieces of errata scattered across the forum posts. We've been through all of them, we think, but there may be one or two we missed. This will help ensure we haven't. We also prefer email because we don't want to clog-up the forum with further posts.

I've had one reported that we missed, so its a useful exercise.

Only RQ6 core book? I mean, if I have located errata in GM Pack, can I report here or is better to start another post?

Just the RQ6 core rules.

Out of curiosity, will the errata changes have page numbers so we can make notes in our hard copies?

Yes.

Not quite sure if this is errata-stuff or not, but I noticed, that the dice step progressions are not consistent. Is that on purpose?
1. Some have 1D12 between 1D10 and 2D6, while others don't. For example damage modifier (p. 13) goes 1D10->1D12->2D6, while Spirit damage, (p. 201) go 1D10->2D6.

2. Some progress faster after 2D6, while other slower. For example Bladesharp (p. 187) goes 2D6->2D8->2D10, while Spirit damage and Damage Modifier go 2D6->1D6+1D8->2D8->1D8+1D10->2D10.

At least the 1D12 between 1D10 and 2D6 seems unnecessary.

Yes the progression rate differences are intentional. For instance the Bladesharp progression is tailored to melee weapon damage ranges, whereas the Damage Modifier table is written to slow the progression rate so that large creatures are still within the bounds of possibility to survive.

The reason that 1d12 (6.5) is kept is that is it is a probability mid-step between 1d10 (5.5) and 2d6 (7).

Well I found something today while designing a character. Not sure if it is errata yet but I will post it here to get it confirmed. Dagger on the One Handed Weapons table on p. 94 have AP/HP 6/8. But later on the Ranged Weapons table on p. 98 it is listed as 4/6. I can understand the damage being a little lower for throwing the dagger but shouldn't the AP/HP be the same? Unless ofcourse it is a throwing dagger different from the one used in melee, but in that case a clarification could be in order.

Good spot.

I believe this is an either/or. The intention was to have a dedicated throwing dagger as lighter and therefore a little less robust, but honestly, daggers should have the same AP/HP just for simplicity's sake.

So yes, dagger ought to be 6/8, but you could rule that one meant for throwing, as opposed to just general usage, would be 4/6.

Page 11 Charisma
If CHA is ever falls to zero…

The ‘is’, is probably redundant

Page 87
The Armour Penalty for a full suit of the same armour is given in parentheses.

There are no parentheses
"This is where we hold them! This is where we fight! This is where they die!"

This is a continuation of the Dagger errata from earlier posts. I just noticed it a day ago but had to double check. Now the daggers have 3 different AP/HP listings. :-)

On page 123 in the Inanimate Objects Armour and Hit Points table the Dagger is listed as AP 6 and HP 4.

I've been trying to keep my head low after that unfortunate business, but this still seemed to be the best place to ask this: is the Warrior background supposed to not provide Ride in its Standard skills? I can understand not every warrior having it, but since as I understand it, you don't have to spend points on the standard skills it seems odd its not available and I'm wondering if its just an error.

I think it's intentional. Most warriors throughout history have not been especially adept at horses - since most were infantry, and cavalry roles were normally reserved to higher layers of society (with exceptions of course).
But, if you're playing a game on the Mongolian steppes or Bulgarian heartland, then ofc. Warriors should get ride :) or if you simply feel like it.
